Marie-Chantal’s experience tailoring a legal document

In this month’s blog, we sat down with recent mode.law user, Marie-Chantal Moll-Vignes. She tells us about her experience of tailoring a legal document for her business Tinnitus Therapy Online. Read on!

How did you hear about mode.law?

I’d been shopping around with other well-respected major law firms and felt like I was not quite receiving the customer experienced and personalised approach I desired for my business. My partner recommended in passing that I should speak with Yule from mode.law who he knew through work.

Can you tell us a little bit about your business Tinnitus Therapy Online and how mode.law offered the services you were looking for?

My business, Tinnitus Therapy Online, is a Virtual Audiology Clinic specialising in the education and holistic management of Tinnitus, (tinnitus is a condition also known as ‘’ringing in the ears and/or head’).

Tinnitus Therapy Online’s flagship offering is a 12-week Tinnitus Recovery Program, providing each client with a bespoke Tinnitus Management Plan, 1-1 Specialist appointments, and online educational resources in support of their recovery. The program not only empowers people to learn how to manage their tinnitus but also teaches sustainable self-regulation, thereby reducing mental health issues such as anxiety and depression that so often comes with tinnitus.

Because my business is unique in its offering of holistic tinnitus management services, and different to mainstream Audiology, I knew that I required a legal service that would take the time to fully understand my business and client needs. A generic document or approach would not suffice. Additionally, Tinnitus Therapy Online is growing at a fast pace and therefore it was essential to have solid reliable legalities in place, so I can focus on my clients, not administration.

Can you explain the process you went through to tailoring your document?

The process was as simple as booking in an initial call whereby Yule had me explain the structure of my business, the services I provided and the type of clients I service. Also, I should add he made other suggestions for my business that I had not considered, and for that reason, I knew I had the right man!

Yule looked at the big picture, not just what I needed. Following that conversation, I received a draft version of the contract which I could edit, and finalise with Yule. It was incredibly easy, and efficient.

How did you tailor the documents to fit your business’s needs?

I didn’t really have to do much on my side, and that’s part of the reason why I would recommend this service. The entire point of hiring a legal service is so they save me time and energy, and I can get back to my own business and do what I do best, which is Tinnitus Therapy! Not legal documents.

Yule had asked that I create a Master Services Agreement from the template on mode.law which created the first draft of the document that he then would tailor. Yule then amended the document to reflect all the changes necessary in response to the unique aspects of my business.

Yule then sent the draft to me to review and provide any feedback. I requested a few changes and returned the document. The next round of changes responded to my questions with the document and then we had a final call to discuss the document, and how best to go about getting my clients to sign up to it given that I provide my services remotely. Yule recommended using HelloSign which was a great suggestion!

So yes, I didn’t do much at all. Which is GREAT!

How satisfied were you with the process and the final legal documents?

Incredibly satisfied.

What would you say to someone thinking of signing up for the mode.law subscription?

Just do it! This is a no-brainer. You can stop-shopping around now! Any business legal advice or documentation I need in future will be done by Yule

What advice would you give to other business owners who might think it’s safe to just copy another company’s legal document?

Do so at your own risk. I think ultimately it shows how much you value your business. It depends on your line of work too, and what service you provide. Some business are in the higher risk category than others, however, at the end of the day, risk is risk.
